Come to meet the sensuous, nightclub-singing evangelist, Reno Sweeney.  Reno and her four Angels sail on the S. S. America during two nights on the sea.  You can meet the crew at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 4, or Saturday, May 5, 2012.

Reno is played by Morrison High School junior, Heather Elfline, shown descending the staircase during rehearsal.  She describes her character as a "sensual, saucy, confident woman who knows what she wants…or does she?."  A worldy woman, Reno refuses to be tied down to any one man.  That is, until she meets Sir Evelyn Oakleigh, an Englishman of the highest degree.  Unfortunately Sir Evelyn is already engaged to Ms. Hope Harcourt.

Who does Sir Evelyn end up with?  Will Reno finally find the man she's been looking for?  To find the answers to these questions, come see the fabulous Reno Sweeney and her four angels Friday, May 4, and Saturday, May 5, in Morrison High School's production of Cole Porter's "Anything Goes."

Advance tickets are available at Fitzgerald Pharmacy, 124 E. Main Street, Morrison, IL, or may be purchased at the door.  The cost is $7 for adults and $5 for students and children.  The production is directed by Ms. Kristen Donnelly and Mr. David Bean.

Synopsis:
The S. S. American, sailing from New York to England, carries an unusual group of passengers.

  • In First Class are the wealthy, Mrs. Harcourt  (Olivia Vander Bleek) and her lovely daughter Hope (Mattie Vander Bleek.)
  • In the bar and on the pulpit, is the evangelizing, nightclub singer Reno Sweeny (Heather Elfline.)
  • In their midst is Public Enemy #13 Moonface Martin (Kurtis Klimson), striving to become Public Enemy #1 with his lackey, the audacious Bonnie (Alex Weets).
  • The New York broker Billy Crocker (Nathan Osborn) boards the ship to assist his boss, New York businessman Elisha Whitney (Andrew Rinker), only to realize his long-lost love, Hope, is aboard.
  • Unfortunately, she is now engaged to a wealthy Englishman, Lord Evelyn Oakleigh (Matthew Burson.)

Through a series of comedic events, each character finds itself in a bind.  Will Billy win Hope's heart?  Will Moonface Martin finally become Public Enemy #1?  What will become of the passengers on the S. S. American?
