Ben Wolf
The Morrison Post started in October of 2006 when printing of Morrison’s other newspaper went out of state. Post owner, Ben Wolf determined that there was enough interest in seeing a new and different newspaper in Morrison, and his printing company, Shawver Press, now had press time to run the paper. It was decided to make the paper a free one and to send it to everyone in the Morrison area. “I knew it would be a challenge to offset the cost of publishing, printing and mailing the paper to over 3500 residents. I also was confident that advertisers would like the format of the paper and the fact that everyone in the area would receive it without having to have a subscription. By we send to over twice as many Morrison residents as our closest competitor. We go to everyone!” The concept worked, and while they are still growing, The Post is providing local news and a local flavor along with covering local interests and people.

Ben Wolf and his wife, Alisa bought Shawver Press in 2001. Ben had been working for a manufacturing company that closed its doors, and had always wanted to go into business for himself. He had worked in industry for 6 years as an engineer and production supervisor. He earned his Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, after graduating from Sterling High School. He is the Genesee Township Clerk, a Rotary member, a drag racer, father, and is involved in many Morrison planning committees.

I really enjoy Morrison and think it is a great place to live and raise a family. We always have to strive to be better though!”
