Morrison will miss you Phyllis

On "Wednesday, July 26, 2006, Morrison lost a true friend to it's citizens and the community at large, Ms. Phyllis Fell.

I remember clearly the very first time I met Phyllis. Morrison in 1971 had a very active theatre group and Phyllis and husband Dr. David Fell were not only participants but held some very entertaining thank you parties for the group. My future wife and I were also minor helpers and I being new to Morrison was greatful for being invited to the party. Phyllis opened her house and I mean the whole house for everyone including myself to wander and meet everyone who had participated.

Phyllis knew I was a newcomer and she was insistent I was introduced to anyone who entered her home that evening. She made me feel at home and I always remembered her selfless manner that evening. Morrison was always treated selflessly by Phyllis and has benefitted from her volunteerism for so many years.Phyllis was as strong with her personality as she was with her compassion in the community.Serving as a Morrison Alderwoman on an all male city council must have been a real challenge for her and the city benefitted from her years of selfless service. Her commitment to the Morrison Food Pantry was unmatched and the reason so many of the community needy had turkeys on Thanksgiving was because she worked so hard at making it happen each and every year.

Morrison is blessed with many wonderful volunteers but this week we need to pause and remember this wonderful woman who really did make a difference for our community. We'll miss you Phyllis and we would wager that somewhere right now you are organizing a benefit for new harp strings or throwing your halo in the ring for Mayor of cloud No.19.Morrison has lost a great woman and she will be missed.
