Morrison Mustang 2006 Football Season

The final score this past Saturday between our Morrison Mustang Football team and the Westville Tigers may not have been the headline we were seeking.

Many fine accounts and stories will be written about the game but there is a behind the scenes story worth noting as our great Mustang football season ends. The game in Westville, Illinois was over 200 miles away and the logistics and planning on short notice was no small task to accomplish including the expense to move an entire team and coaching staff. The decision was made to have the team travel a day early so as not to be road weary on game day was made. The Unit District No.6 Administration along with the coaching staff enlisted the help of the Morrison Athletic Boosters who then sent out an appeal for assistance on extremely short notice. These individuals and fine businesses stepped forward without hesitation proving a winning community attitude was there to help the Mustangs: Stan Steines, Happy Joe’s Pizza, Schuler Motors, Weingstine & Shirk, Buckwalter-Schurman, Community State Bank, Fitzgerald Pharmacy, State Farm Insurance, Frank and Stephanie Vavra, Rick and Angie Buikema, Gold Star FS, Farmers National Bank, Morrison Veterinary Clinic, Wells Fargo Bank, Hair Headquarters, TheCity1.com, Shawver Press/The Morrison Post, The Cornerstone Agency, Tegeler Acounting Service, Nelson’s Electric, Whiteside News Sentinel, Green and Clean Lawn Service & Irrigation, General Electric and J & M Trucking. Thank you again to the Band of Brothers for an exciting 2006 football season for Morrison!
