The Morrison Post Editorial

Is anyone else tired after this eventful weekend? I know the answer to that. There was a lot of hard work that went into creating all the events that happened this weekend, and it was very well attended. Even Mother Nature gave us beautiful weather, even if we had to wear sweatshirts for a while. It really is great to see the growth of the Paint The Town event. I couldn’t believe when they told me that there were well over 1,000 squared registered for when we picked up our paint. Most painted squares represented more than one person being downtown too when you consider parents and friends. There is just no way to capture all of the sights, sounds, smells and even dancing that was going on in downtown Morrison this weekend. We try to do that in pictures, but if you haven’t made it to this event in the last few years, you owe it to yourself to go next year. Not only is Paint The Town blossoming, but more events have been added to this weekend. Sunday is now a big day too, and the Sunday events will only grow in upcoming years if everyone can work together. I have been involved in the Morrison Car Show in years past, and really have enjoyed that event. Will it always be on Sunday after Paint The Town? I hope so. This weekend can really be made into a something for everyone weekend. The car show is a success all by itself too, so we will see how it all works out. I had been involved in planning of Paint The Town in years past, but this weekend was the first that I participated. Actually, my three year old son painted a square. At one point, I thought that a squeegee would work better than a paint brush to spread out the puddles of paint that he had created. It was a great time. We have a couple reminders in this issue about the Consolidation Report meeting for our school district. If you have interest in this topic, the Tuesday night meeting about the findings of the district’s study on the possibility of consolidation is for you. I will be there. I have to make a comment on accident reporting. There was an automobile accident that we have pictures of in this issue. I really don’t enjoy reporting on that. It captures people at an often painful moment, which sometimes has an impact on the rest of their lives. On the other hand, it is news that people want information on. Not all news is good news. Thanks to all of our advertisers and readers. You make The Morrison Post a possibility! Thanks for reading.
