Opinions From The Morrison Post

Enough already! Uncle! Stop the snow! The past year’s lack of snow had left us needing moisture in the spring. I wish that Mother Nature wouldn’t make up for it all in one year though. It’s pretty hard to think about global warming as a bad thing when you are shoveling heavy snow off the sidewalk…For the third time….In the same day!

Super Tuesday is finally over. The Republican candidate pool has been reduced by yet another. There are those of the Mormon faith who think people were too closed minded about the religion issue, at time even going as far as to call it prejudicial by the American People. That accusation kind of raised my shackles a bit. And then I thought about it. Perhaps they are right. Maybe I am not comfortable with the thought of having a president whose religion I do not understand. Prejudging is not necessarily a bad thing all of the time. It keeps us safe from the time we are very young children looking at a mean looking dog and deciding whether or not to pet it. That first instinct may save us from getting hurt. We use our experiences in life to evaluate new situations and people. It’s all we have to work with at times. I think a great portion of this country feel the same way about who will be elected to serve in the White House. Those concerns may be unfounded to many, but it’s pretty hard to change a person’s feelings. The future election could very well be decided not by people choosing a candidate who possesses the qualities they are looking for, but by people choosing a candidate who they can relate to.

My family lost a very special person last week. My grandmother succumbed to multiple health problems just minutes after I visited her. She was a person who helped shape me as a child and who helped me in many ways after I was grown. She is in a better place, but will be missed by those who she left behind. I am grateful for my fortune to have been able to say goodbye.
