How Saudi's and American's (or our countries) are alike

A few months back I wrote an article about how we are different from the folks in Saudi where I'm working right now. Saudi Arabia is a country swept in sand and mystery and holds a mystique that us Morrison folks don't always understand, but in many respects we are the same. Maybe this list can show you how.

We both have:
- An East Coast, a West Coast and a Gulf Coast
- Sandy beaches
- Fathers, Sons, Mothers, Daughters, Cousins, Husbands, Wives, etc.
- Flies
- Big American cars
- Lots of pick up trucks and SUVs
- Coke & Pepsi
- Armed police
- McDonalds
- Hardees
- Ponderosa
- Bennigans
- Pizza Hut
- Mexican food
- Air conditioning
- Qualified for the World Cup
- Not much chance of progressing to the second round of the World Cup
- Big shopping malls
- Horse racing
- Lots of churches (or Mosques)
- Lots of Fundamentalists
- Road signs in English (at least on the roads I've been on)
- Concern for the Israeli/Palestinian situation
- No national health plan
- No hard liquor advertisements on TV
- TV censorship
- Low fat milk (actually, as in most countries, it is called Long Life [homogenized and UHT treated] Low Fat milk which I commonly refer to as "lowlife milk")
- American military supplies
- Lots of oil
- Cheap (relative to most countries) gas
- Firm religious/ethical beliefs 32 - Seatbelt law
- Former slaveholders
- Maxwell House coffee and Lipton tea
- The death penalty
