The Good Friday Community Cross Walk began at noon on Friday in the sanctuary of the Ebenezer Reformed Church. Pastor Jon Nienhuis, pastor of Ebenezer led in the welcome and greeting.
Seminarian, Seth Bush, Emmanuel Reformed Church read scripture from Luke 23: 26-31 and Pastor Deborah Taylor, of Morrison United Methodist Church read scripture from Luke 23: 32-43 and gave a short meditation. Congregation songs were “Lead Me to Calvary”, “Were You There” and “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross”. Pastor Dave Weemhoff of Morrison Christian Church offered prayer.
From Ebenezer a group of 25 gathered to carry the cross to Resthave Nursing Home. Approximately 70 residents, family and friends gathered for this segment of the annual walk.
Pastor Nienhuis led in the welcome and greeting and read from Isaiah 52:13 – 53:9. Pastor Mike Selburg read from Luke 23:44-56.
Hymns that were sung were “Amazing Grace”, “Beneath the Cross of Jesus” and “The Old Rugged Cross.”
Nienhuis completed the service with closing prayer and benediction.
