A Concert of Joy

A Concert of Joy: An Afternoon of Instrumental Praise will be presented at the United Methodist Church of Morrison, Illinois, on Sunday, March 30, 2008 beginning at 4:00 P.M. The concert will feature guest musicians Justin Rich, organist, and pianist, Beverly Hoitsma. Mr. Rich and Ms. Hoitsma are members of the Men of A-Chord, an ensemble from the Chicago suburbs that performed at the Methodist Church last year. Together these two accomplished musicians will celebrate the joyfulness of a risen Savior through the gift of music.

Mr. Rich and Ms. Hoitsma will both solo and perform organ/piano duets. The afternoon concert of praise will incorporate a variety of music for organ, including “Tocatta in D Minor,” “In the Garden,” “Finlandia,” and “Tocatta on St. Anne,” and “Variations on Jesus Loves Me.” Together Mr. Rich and Ms. Hoitsma will contiue the Concert of Joy with duets, including: “Great is Thy Faithfulness,” “Triumphant Praise,” “Thanks be to Thee,” and “The Holy City.”

Justin Rich studied organ under the instruction of Mr. Andrew Vogel of South Holland, Illinois, for fifteen years. He is organist for the First Christian Reformed Church of Lansing, Illinois, serves as director of the male singing group, Men of a-Chord, and gives piano/organ lessons to local students. Justin’s main occupation is serving as a corporate safety/environmental manager for Tube City IMS at Gary Works U.S. Steel. A lifelong resident of the south Chicago suburbs, Justin resides in Lansing, Illinois with his wife Jill and their two young children, Julie and John.

Beverly Hoitsma is organist for the Orland Park Christian Reformed Church, accompanies the Senior Choir and Praise Team, and has served as accompanist for the Men of A-Chord for since 1993. Beverly is employed as Director of Nursing at the Holland Home in South Holland, Illinois. Included in her family circle are husband, David, children David, Jr. and Jennifer, and grandchildren Lucas and Isabelle.

All are invited to this enjoyable and uplifting afternoon concert of praise. A salad and dessert supper will immediately follow the performance. There is no charge; however, a free will offering will be taken.
