Fatal Traffic Crash

Whiteside County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a two-vehicle traffic crash at the intersection of US Route 30 and Illinois Route 136 just east of Fulton at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 2008.

A semi tractor-trailer driven by Wayne A. Meister, age 51 of Eldora, Iowa was east bound on US Route 30 when a 2003 Chevy Cavalier four-door, driven by Jeanice D. Brown, age 72, or rural Thomson was south bound across the intersection and was struck by the semi tractor-trailer. The car and the semi tractor-trailer went off the roadway on the south side of US Route 30 into a field. The driver of the car was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Whiteside County Coroner, Joe McDonald. Meister was not injured.

Whiteside County Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted at the scene by Fulton Fire, Fulton Ambulance, Fulton Police, Illinois State Police, Hunter’s Towing Service and the Coroner’s Office.

The traffic crash remains under investigation.
