Burglary at Climco Morrison Police responded to a burglary at Climco Coils in the Industrial Park on August 12, 2008 at approximately 3:45 a.m. Unknown persons entered the building and vandalized two delivery trucks, one machine, and ransacked the break room and an office. The burglary occurred sometime between 2 a.m. and the time of the dispatch. Morrison Police were assisted at the scene by the Whiteside Count Sheriff’s Office.
Burglary at Odell and Community Room A representative of Odell Library reported on August 13, 2008 at approximately 7 a.m. that the library and Community Room had been burglarized some time the previous night. There was a small amount of currency taken, as well as food items from the kitchen of the Community Room. Illinois State Police, Division of Crime Scene Services processed physical evidence at the scene. Morrison Police are continuing the investigation into this incident.
Three Arrested for Unlawful Consumption The Whiteside County Mounted Patrol requested assistance on August 15, 2008 at approximately 2:30 a.m. from the Police Department in the investigation of several suspicious individuals in a barn at the fairgrounds. When officers arrived, the individuals ran into a trailer and refused to come out. Officers utilized pepper spray to coax the suspects out. Officers charged Lauren C. Young, 17, Sterling; Nathan D. Stepp, 20, Chadwick; and a 16-year-old juvenile with unlawful consumption of an alcoholic beverage. Young and Stepp were released on notices to appear. The juvenile was released to the custody of a parent. All three are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Driving While License Revoked Charge Morrison Police charged Michael L. Schipper, 43, Morrison, on August 16, 2008 at approximately 12:15 p.m., with one count of driving while license revoked. Schipper was charged after a Whiteside County Sheriff’s Deputy observed him driving in the 100 block of North Cherry Street. Schipper was released on a notice to appear in court. Schipper is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Hit and Run Matthew J. Vegter, Morrison reported on August 16, 2008 at approximately 1:14 p.m. that his car had been struck by an unknown vehicle while it was parked in the 300 block of North Jackson Street. The hit and run occurred some time that morning.
Tools Stolen from Truck Marvin V. Houzenga, Morrison reported on August 17, 2008 that a welder, band saw, and grinder were stolen from a tool storage box in his truck. The theft occurred some time during the previous week while the truck was parked in the 500 block of East Main Street. Total value of the items taken was approximately $1,400.
