Diabetes Cookbook Program

Diabetes can be a devastating disease if not managed, but managing it with proper health and nutrition can be easier with the Whiteside County Health Department’s Diabetes Prevention & Control Program.

The first 90 people who enroll in the free program will receive a color-cover 74-page Diabetes Cookbook at no charge. The cookbook offers a guide to safe nutrition with easy-to-follow recipes for main dishes, appetizers, soups and salads, desserts and beverages.

Enrollment means a willingness to answer questions about your diabetes twice-a-year. The first interview is done face-to-face, either at the Whiteside County Health Department or in your own home.

Information is provided to participants concerning various programs such as Dining with Diabetes, support groups, newsletters and updates on Diabetes research. No financial assistance for medication and supplies is available. However, the Whiteside County Health Department is able to help participants search for assistance for Diabetes supplies.

To make an appointment, or to ask a question, call Dina at (815) 626-2230, ext. 315.
