IHSA Allows Return to Play for All Sports

RefereeWhistleThe current COVID-19 pandemic has become the point of focus and concern for all educational institutions.  The IHSA has been monitoring and providing constant guidelines for allowing sport activities to continue within IDPH guidelines.  IHSA Board of Directors approved Phase 3 Guidelines on June 5, 2020, followed by an adjusted Phase 4 Guidelines on July 3, 2020.

The most recent adjustment allows participation of all sports activities, within a revised season calendar, that allows all previous sports to be completed within an expanded school year calendar.

The following press release best explains the intentions of the IHSA toward the 2020-2021 school sports schedules.

Parks and Recreation Cancels Fall Sports

SoccerKidsParks and Recreation Coordinator Katie Selburg reported, "We have made the final decision not to offer any youth sports (Soccer and Flag Football) for the 2020 fall season.

"The most recent Illinois guidelines laid out for youth sports participation in Phase 4 would make our programs very challenging to administer, as well as limit interaction for our participants.  All other Parks and Recreation organizations in our area have made this same announcement in the past couple of weeks....We feel that this is the right decision for our community, as well."
