Concert to Benefit Local Families

On Sunday, November 18, 2012, the churches of Morrison will unite in song for We Sing for Their Supper.  The concert will be held at Ebenezer Reformed Church, 309 E. Park Street, Morrison, IL, at 6:00 p.m.  There is no admission charge, but a free will offering will be taken to benefit the Food Pantry and the Christmas Helping Hands.

World Community Day November 2

On Friday, November 2, 2012, Morrison Church Women United will host their annual World Community Day at Morrison United Methodist Church, 200 W. Lincolnway, Morrison, IL.  This last gathering of the year will be held in the Heritage Hall.  Coffee will be served beginning at 9:00 a.m.  At 9:30 the program will commence:  "Abiding in Community."  Contact Judy Manchester with questions at 815-772-4127.

Home for the Holidays Bazaar

altMark your calendars for the annual Home for the Holidays Bazaar hosted by the Morrison United Methodist Church, 200 W. Lincolnway, Morrison, IL.  The bazaar will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2012, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church and will feature crafts by local crafters and their famous homemade cookies, pies, jams, and candy.  Plans this year will include breakfast from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Youth Deer Hunt Brings Big Smiles & Big Deer

altThe special Youth Deer Hunt at Lost Mound was held on October 6 and 7 and it was obvious which youth had harvested deer, just by looking at the smiles on their faces. There were 23 youth that participated, eight of them harvested a deer that included three bucks and five does. Fourteen year old Caleb Poffenberger from Forreston harvested the largest deer, a ten point buck with field dressed weight of 180 pounds.  This veteran youth hunter also harvested the largest buck in 2011.

Radon Program Offered in Mt Carroll

The public, especially homeowners and realtors, are invited to attend a Radon Program, called, “Help Yourself to a Healthy Home - Reduce Your Exposure to Radon.”  The program will be held on Thursday, November 15, at 6:00 p.m., at the Naaman Diehl Auditorium, Carroll County Farm Bureau, 811 S. Clay Street, Mt Carroll, IL.  There is a $5 fee to attend.  All participants will receive a free radon test kit to take home and informational handouts.

Agape Care Team Health Services Closing

After 15 years, the faith-based clinic, Agape Care Team Health Services, located at 16 E. Miller Road, Sterling, will be closing its doors on November 1. Co-founder and Director, Connie Cato, PA-C, has been preparing patients for the clinic’s closure since May of 2010.

Lions Club Members Start Annual Ham Sale Fundraiser

The holiday season is close at hand.  The Morrison Lions Club members are once again offering delicious, fully cooked, smoked, and boneless hams.  Those who have purchased the hams in the past several years have commented on the excellent quality.  Deliveries will be made prior to Thanksgiving and again prior to Christmas.  To receive a ham for Thanksgiving, your order must be received by Sunday, November 11, 2012.  The deadline for ordering a ham for Christmas is Sunday, December 9.  Consider a ham for your family gathering, or as a gift to a family member, neighbor, friend, or employee.
