Morrison Kiwanis--A Hidden Treasure

A grounds keeper, a grain elevator employee, a teacher, a police officer, a college student, a student financial aide coordinator, a construction worker, a supervisor for Goodyear Tire and Rubber, a Navy serviceman,  a juvenile probation officer, a former employee of GE--what do these people have in common?  They are the Morrison Kiwanis.

altThe Morrison Kiwanis is a member of Kiwanis International, whose roots are founded in helping each community through simple acts of kindness.  The Morrison Kiwanis delivers weekly groceries to the home-bound.  It is the only service club in Morrison who also makes home deliveries for the Morrison Friends Food Pantry.

They continue to host the ever-popular annual Easter Egg Hunt held every spring at Kiwanis Park.

The Morrison Kiwanis financially supports

  • Morrison Boy and Girl Scouts
  • Morrison Day Care Center
  • Morrison Little League baseball and softball
  • Odell Public Library
  • WHOA
  • United Way's LIFE program
  • Morrison Historical Society
  • Hospice of the Rock River Valley.

The Morrison Kiwanis assists the Red Cross community blood drives and is the annual host for their July blood drive.  The Morrison Kiwanis' holiday fruit sale is a strongly-supported community fundraiser, held just in time for the holidays.  The Morrison Kiwanis Saturday summer sandwich sales continue to serve as a tradition in the community.  The Morrison Kiwanis is also the proud sponsor of the Morrison High School Key Club International, which boasts a membership of 84 young men and women.  The Morrison Kiwanis awards a $1000 service scholarship to a graduating Key Clubber who has best exemplified the core values of inclusiveness, service, leadership, and caring while attending Morrison High School.

The Morrison Kiwanis has been a hidden treasure within the Morrison community for over 34 years.  Simply stated, we are looking for new members. A commitment to Morrison Kiwanis is a commitment to your community.  With only three hours of your time each month, you can be a part of a simple and humble organization, that is dedicated to helping others less fortunate and supporting those who will become tomorrow’s leaders.

We meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Odell Public Library the second and fourth Tuesday of every month.  Weather permitting, we hold our June, July, and August meetings at the Kiwanis Park, followed by a lively round of fellowship and rolle bolle!  COME JOIN US!
