M. Lucille Salzmann


January 16, 1918 - May 23, 2008

M. LUCILLE SALZMANN, 90, of Corona, CA, formerly of Hooppole, IL, died Friday, May 23, 2008 in Corona.

Lucille was born January 16, 1918 in Harmon, IL to William and Edna (Hettinger) Stonesifer. She attended the Harmon, IL area schools. She married Earl A. Salzmann on October 6, 1940, in Sterling, IL. He preceded her in death on September 28, 1995. Lucille owned and operated Lucille’s Beauty Shop in Hooppole, IL for many years. She was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church of Hooppole, IL and was active in the church’s Friendship Circle. She enjoyed fishing and telling and being told a good joke. She was an excellent seamstress and known for baking wedding cakes.

Survivors include two daughters, Jana (Larry) Dowdy of Tamms, IL and Sherry Sherman of Corona, CA; five grandchildren, Lana (Joe) Schaeffer, Tod Dowdy, Jade Salzmann, Jennifer Sherman, and Zack Sherman; nine great grandchildren, Phil, Seth, Aaron and Marcus Schaeffer, Amanda and BreeAnn Dowdy, Paige, Chace and Payton Salzmann; one sister, Madeline (Eddie) Jansen of Madison, WI; one brother, Billy (Lorraine) Stonesifer of Sterling, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl; two sons, Wayne Salzmann and Darell Salzmann; three sisters, Evelyn, Lolan and Jane; one brother, Wayne Stonesifer.

MEMORIAL SERVICE WHEN AND WHERE: 11:00 AM Tuesday – June 3, 2008 at the Zion United Methodist Church – Hooppole, IL

OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. Rodney Herrick – Pastor: Zion United Methodist Church – Hooppole, IL

VISITATION: 9:30 AM Tuesday – June 3, 2008 until time of service at Zion United Methodist Church – Hooppole, IL. Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home – Prophetstown, IL in charge of arrangements.

CREMATION RITES HAVE BEEN ACCORDED

INTERMENT OF CREMAINS: Hooppole Cemetery – Hooppole, IL
