There have been supporters and opponents of Daylight Saving Time switching for many years.  The Core Debate surrounding Daylight Saving and Standard Time follows.  There are genuine factors to consider.

Public Opinion:  A prominent AP-NORC poll showed that only 12% of Americans favor keeping the current system of switching clocks twice a year.

Permanent Daylight Saving Time (Proponents):  Supporters—including the House bill sponsors and many who prefer later evening sunlight—argue it boosts afternoon activity and commerce.

Permanent Standard Time (Health & Sleep Experts):  The American Academy of Sleep Medicine and other medical groups strongly oppose permanent daylight saving time. They point to a historical 1974 trial of permanent daylight saving time that was quickly repealed after children had to walk to school in dangerous morning darkness, warning that permanent late sunrises harm human circadian rhythms and safety.
